I believe I have been living a little white lie to draw the attention to my work. Below is one of my most recent works that express the gentle approach I have to seeing color. Inspired by this I have started a new series called "color blind

color blind IV

".

Place: My studio
Date: 08.27.06 Time: 04:31 PM

Event: Opening up, one more step...

To my studio. To the four wood panels that have
been my whipping board, without resolution.

So, Resolution was the task.

I have always worked hard at getting voice, and, once
I have, finding safety in it. There comes a point when my
voice becomes a whisper... Then, days like today happen.

The wood received strokes of yellow, red, blue, aqua -
whatever was in my studio. That is the spirit which came
upon me today.

Resolution? Maybe not, but good, peace of mind.

Age: 54

Place: My studio floor
Date: 08.23.06 Time: 01:31 AM

For every Birthday I must just take a moment to see
my visual life a little differently.

Here it is.

Age: 54

Place: My studio floor
Date: 08.22.06 Time: 08:38 AM

Event: Dealing with that week before a birthday

Birthdays are always a time to reflect upon events that
shape ones life.

Why, I don't know, but I have this urge to understand
the origin of my first visual gesture on this birthday.

In a heap on my studio floor were magazine covers, photographs,
sketch pads and paintings all of my creation over the past 30 years.
I searching through the pile. trying to answer this quest.

Taking notice of...

Hanging on the wall was a photo that I shot in the early eighties,
the subject a nude lady on my seamless. Her name - Madonna.

Possibly, my first gesture.

Place: MOMA, NYC
Date: 08.02.06 Time: 11:14 PM

Event: Dealing with the heat, getting motivated.

When I have a problem getting motivated,

I remember something Alexander Lieberman once said to me.

I was a young & impressionable.

I walked up to him as he stood amidst his exhibition at
Andre Emmeriche's Gallery. Amazed at his talent as an
artist, and also as creative director of all Conde Naste
publications, I asked "Mr. Leiberman, how are you able
to do all this and more?" He turned to me and said bluntly,

"Just do it."

It felt like he had riding crop in his hand.

So, every time I feel overwhelmed, I hear his voice,

like a kick in the...and I do it.

Event: Bringing back my vision.

It started off with a long walk to nowhere in particular...
ending up
on 42nd street in a heated dicussion about the facts of life of a full
time artist." And where will I havemy studio?" I wondered aloud, when
on our left a new storefront on this familiar block caught our attention -
"A gallery? Here?"We found young curator Janusz Jaworski locking
up after his first opening, but he welcomed us inside. He explained
that this was TIXE, a new artspace operated by chashama, and that it
contained a theatre and and installation space as well as this main
gallery. Oh, and and there was an artist in residence program -
